4th of July Fun

This 4th of July we had 4 days of fun. It started on Friday and continued until Monday. We had a BBQ every single day. We never thought it could be possible to get tired of BBQ. Here is a little video of our 4th of July fun.

Annual Family Tea Party!

I only work 4 days a month as a Registered Nurse at a local hospital. I was supposed to work today but the hospital didn’t need me and put me on call. Well, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to hit the local thrift store and try to find me an outfit for our next tea party since I had some extra time in my hands. Look what I found for $1!!! Isn’t this the best tea party hat you have ever seen? All I need now is an old fashioned dress and a parasol!

We do this about once a year at our family reunions; you can tell that I am in desperate need of a new outfit and a new hat. We call it tea party but no one really drinks tea. We all drink juice, eat delicious treats and behave like ladies.

Richard can play the piano but I am musically challenged. I love music so much but I have never been able to sing in tune or play an instrument. I made a promise to myself that our beautiful daughter and future children would not go through life being musically challenged. At 18 months old Natalie was enrolled in a local music school and has been having music lessons once a week ever since. This Thanksgiving day she woke up singing "Do, Re, Mi, Sol, La, Ti, Do"
We were so excited to hear her sing! I think we are heading in the right direction!!!

Yesterday at around 4 pm I was in the kitchen trying to cook dinner. I try to have dinner ready every day by 5:30 so as soon as daddy gets home we can have dinner as a family. Well, Natalie wanted to play outside in our new backyard that just got put in last month. I told Natalie that I had to go inside and cook dinner and she could stay out and play or come in the house with me but that I couldn’t be out there with her.
As I started to walk up our deck stairs I hear “mommy, come back here” and then she started to count, “1….2….3” I just burst out laughing, I guess I have used those very same words too many times with her and she decided to use it on me.
I then looked at her and said “if Mommy stays and plays with you who is going to cook dinner?” She thought about it for a moment and said “me.” She then proceeded to go in the house with me and she did help me cook. Well, she decided to play with markers instead. Then she got a green marker and drew all over herself…but that is a story for another day.

PIZZA

Today we went for our walk by the river trail. On our way back, the semaphore (big word for stop light) was red and so we were waiting for the light to turn green. Natalie looked out the window and saw a restaurant sign that read “PIZZA” with no pictures or anything and said “Mommy…Pizza” let’s go eat! Pretty good for a 2 year old we thought. Never mind that we have been doing flash cards and using the Glenn Doman reading method since she was 8 months old. It looks like it’s starting to work.

Fun with the cousins

After church we left Tucson and headed for what Mommy and Daddy called "Lost Wages". I think they meant Las Vegas, but I wasn't sure. I was sad leaving aunt Aurora and uncle Abram, but I was excited to play with my cousins.

While Daddy's was at his conference us girls went out and played. Mommy says I fit in with the big girls now. I don't know why, but I think that makes Mommy a little sad.

I love celebrating birthdays! I love celebrating birthdays with ice cream even more! I made sure I thanked Emma for having a birthday.

Daddy said he is glad it will be 14 more years before I get my driver's license. I can't wait!

There are things to do in this desert?

We went to an awesome park in the desert. We saw cacti, flowers, caves, bats, birds, wolves, deer, hummingbirds, otters, and gila monsters. It was fun...and educational. Mommy's tricky like that.

Do Mommy and Daddy really want one more picture by a saguaro cactus? Where can a girl get a good ice cream around here?

Found it! I gave Daddy my string cheese in exchange for his ice cream cone. I thought it was a fair trade.

Doesn't Mommy look excited going around on the carousel again, and again, and again? I loved riding the pony's at the Trail Dust Town.

Sometimes Mommy gets a little crazy when it gets late at night.

Off to the dancing wonderland

We had a long drive from the Grand Canyon to Tucson to see aunt Aurora graduate. Mommy says aunt Aurora will now be a Master at Dance. I wonder what she was before? I had to help Daddy clean all the bugs he killed off of the windshield.

I will show all those dance majors how to dance!

They were barley able to keep me still long enough for this picture. I wanted to dance some more.

The Grand Canyon and the foaming mouth squirrel

Yet another installment of photos from our trip.

Mommy and me at the Grand Canyon with our cool sun glasses. Daddy says we're hot, but I didn't think it was that hot outside.

We turned around from taking a picture and found Mr. squirrel trying to steal my fruit snacks. I don't mind sharing, but he didn't even ask.

Come here Mr. squirrel, I just want to hold you.

I tried to share my fruit snack with Mr. squirrel but he just ran away. I was not happy.

One more picture of the three of us in the park...just in case one of the other thousand pictures of us didn't turn out.

When we saw some of these bird in the park I wanted to touch them but Mommy told me that they could pick me up and carry me off. They looked so little from far away, but I guess Mommy was right!

Antelope Canyon & Grand Canyon

Here is the second installment of photos from our trip.

Mommy wanted us to get to the tour early to learn about the Native American's. One of the dancers took a bunch of hola-hoops and danced them into a ball. Learning is fun.

Yesterday Horseshoe Bend with no horses...today Antelope Canyon with no Antelopes. I think my parents are going crazy.

I wanted to get down and play in the sand some more but Daddy made me hold still for yet another picture.

We loved going on the dam tour! The Glen Canyon dam tour that is.

Mommy decided to be the photographer for a little bit. Daddy sure got close to the edge. If Grandma sees this I think Daddy will get sent to time-out.

I should have known, Mommy and Daddy wanted another picture of the three of us for our photo wall. We take a picture of the three of us at every major place we visit and hang it in the entry way of our home. Mommy tells me I sure have been a lot of places for a two year old.

After Daddy was done taking pictures he looked around to find Mommy and me hiding in the car. We were cold and hungry, we're no dummies.

Horseshoe Bend

Here is the first installment of photos from our latest trip. It took us longer than we thought to go through all of our photos and reduce it down to just a few. We had a great time! We hope you enjoy the pictures.

Mommy hadn't even done my hair yet, but I wanted out of the car to help Daddy gas it up. I had to teach him how to do it right.

This is one of Daddy's photos of some place they call Horseshoe bend. I didn't see any horses there, but it sure was pretty.

Mommy held on to me really tight the whole time we were there. I don't know why she didn't let me run around like she usually does.

Daddy was explaining to me why airplanes sometimes have long white trails in the sky after them. He said something about contrails, jet's exhaust, water vapor, and condensation. That's the last time I point out an airplane to Daddy.

Daddy made us wait until the sun went down to take his pictures, so I made him carry me back to the car. I thought it was a fair trade. I couldn't wait to get back to our hotel and go to bed.

My first coconut water

Since our old blog went down we have decided to go through our older pictures and videos and repost some of them. This video is one of them. This is Natalie's first coconut water in Brazil. She wasn't even a year old yet. She did pretty good using a straw for the first time. We love coconut water so we were excited when she tried some and liked it.

I took advantage of the good weather today and got some pictures of Natalie playing in the front yard after church. She wanted to take her basket to church but I didn't let her. It was sitting on the front porch when we got home so she took it and started collecting things. Luna only lost 3 tulips in the process. Daddy was too busy taking pictures to save the flowers.
